What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce the risk of injury or illness in the future. It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient at the centre of their care. Physiotherapist are trained movement and rehabilitation specialists.

What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy?

There are many areas of Physiotherapy. Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy focuses on the rehabilitation of the following: various joint pain, acute and long term back and neck pain, whiplash injury, sports injury, orthopaedic conditions, pre and post orthopaedic surgery, antenatal/postnatal care, long term pain management, management of long term conditions such as arthritis, repetitive strain injury and ergonomic problems. 

Physiotherapy Services

At present, TW Physiotherapy and Pilates offers Physiotherapy in a purely mobile capacity. For your convenience, I will come to your home and complete a comprehensive assessment. This will consist of a verbal and physical assessment. Treatment can include: education and advice, specifically tailored exercise programmes, taping, including Kinesio Tape and various manual therapies.

Cancer Rehabilitation

I became a Cancer Specialist Physiotherapist in 2017. I manage side effects of treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. Common side effects I assess and treat are: scar tightness, weakness, cording, chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy, pain, joint stiffness and balance issues. There is strong evidence for doing regular and specific physical activity following a cancer diagnosis to help tolerate treatment better, manage side effects and improve overall health and wellbeing. For some types of cancer there is evidence in a reduction in re-occurrence. I can support with relevant information and safe referrals to ensure you can be physically active with all the necessary safety in place.
